Why Choose Reco Spinal Centre for Elbow Pain Treatment?
At Reco, we understand that elbow pain can be frustrating and often challenging to pinpoint. Many of our patients report discomfort without any apparent cause, and more often than not, this pain is linked to postural alignment issues.
Our dedicated team will conduct a thorough investigation, including assessments of the skeletal and muscular systems. We will also perform orthopaedic and neurological checks and a detailed posture evaluation to gain a comprehensive understanding of your condition.
Once we’ve gathered all the necessary information, we will formulate a tailored plan to address your elbow pain effectively. Our goal is to help you find relief and improve your overall function. Let’s work together to get you back to your best self!
What Is Elbow Pain?
Elbow pain is generally caused by an injury or from overuse. Our favourite sports and hobbies often require repetitive actions that add stress and cause wear-and-tear to bones, muscles, tendons, ligaments and joints.
Recurring elbow pain isn’t likely to go away through just using home remedies. Our team of highly trained chiropractors and therapists in Bristol specialises in relieving and treating elbow pain to help our patients on the road to a speedy recovery.
Symptoms can include pain, tenderness, soreness or a burning sensation occurring around the area of the elbow. Gripping and general movements may be difficult. Sometimes a horrible grating sound accompanies every movement of the elbow.
What Are the Causes of Elbow Pain?
Many people have felt the excruciating pain of a door swinging onto their elbow and a sharp, shooting pain running along the nerve to the little finger (sometimes referred to as hitting your ‘funny bone’), or the pain of not being able to play tennis due to a frustrating, recurring case of tennis elbow.
Our team of therapists and chiropractors has seen and treated many different elbows with a wide variety of root causes and is on hand to treat our Bristolian patients.
Common causes of elbow pain include:
- Osteoarthritis and other types of arthritis.
- Injury or trauma
- Sprains are caused by tearing or stretching of a ligament.
- Trapped nerve
- Tendonitis is inflammation that affects a tendon.
- Bursitis is the inflammation of small, fluid-filled sacs that cushion muscles, tendons and bones around joints.
- Lateral epicondylitis, also known as tennis elbow, affects the tendons on the outside of the elbow through repetitive motions. Cooks, painters, carpenters, plumbers and mechanics often come into the clinic with this problem.
- Medial epicondylitis, also known as golfer’s elbow, affects the inner tendons in the elbow, usually from repetitive downward swinging motions.
Treatment for Elbow Pain
The treatment of elbow pain depends on the diagnosis of the root cause.
At Reco Spinal Centre a chiropractor can work on joint manipulation and the treatment of the soft tissue around the elbow joint, using a range of techniques and treatments designed to increase an elbow’s range of motion, reduce inflammation and offer relief to muscles around the joint.
Elbow pain may not be completely remedied in one session. Our specialists often recommend ongoing exercises, rest and therapy.
Prevention of Elbow Pain
At Reco Spinal Centre we believe that aftercare is just as important to prevent elbow pain as the initial treatment offered by our experts. Our specialists will assess a patient’s daily activities and address any that could cause elbow pain to reoccur.
Avoiding future injury to an elbow can include a bespoke programme of exercise in relation to the specific elbow issue. Repetitive sports injuries such as tennis elbow are likely to require periods of rest and a full process of rehabilitation which may involve ongoing treatment.
